Summer Camp
Our dedicated and fun-loving teachers will take your child on an unforgettable journey. Our camp teachers work collaboratively to develop fun activities that take advantage of all the summer has to offer. They use the playground and the surrounding community as an extension of the camp. This allows children to discover science, explore nature, and engage in the creative arts while learning about the vast opportunities in the world around them.
Curriculum
Little Heroes Learning Center & K1 uses the Florida State approved Creative Curriculum in conjunction with the Project Zero and Visible Thinking Approach. The Curriculum Framework is divided into five components:
- How Children Develop and Learn
- The Learning Environment
- What Children Learn
- The Teacher’s Role
- The Family’s Role
The classroom environment is organized into Interest Centers, which subdivide the classroom into spaces that accommodate a few children at a time. Interest Learning Centers help children concentrate on developing specific skills while they play. Children engage in active, hands-on learning while having the freedom to make their own choices. Our daily learning activities are carefully planned in order to satisfy the skills in all of the developmental areas, such as fine/gross motor, language skills, cognitive, and social/emotional skills. Also, our daily schedule consists of active and quiet time, large group activities, small group activities, and time to play alone or with others. Television viewing is not part of the routine.
STEAM
Science
Technology
Engineering
Arts
Mathematics
Little Heroes Learning Center & K1 places a huge emphasis on STEAM education. These five disciplines are used in everyday activities. They promote problem-solving, creativity, and analytical thinking. Many jobs, including accounting, architecture, medical research, and more, involve these subjects. We believe that providing children with a STEAM foundation offers them lessons that they can use throughout their academic years and beyond.
Rethink, Reuse
Our rethink, reuse philosophy emphasizes a child’s creativity. We use recyclable materials like bottles, bottle caps, and cardboard boxes to make children aware of the need to protect our planet. This approach encourages children to ask open-ended questions, interpret concepts, and think critically about big ideas.
